A Bit of Background

We are so happy you are considering adding a SWD to your family! The Spanish Water Dog are a wonderful breed that is sure to add unconditional love to your home. Originally these curly cuties were bred as herding and gun dogs. They can also be proficient as water retrievers. Our dogs love to retrieve tennis balls! The versatility of this breed makes them great for most families as they are highly intelligent and trainable. Females will grow to be around 35 pounds, and males will be in the 45 pound range. These guys are fine with playing a nice game of fetch or going on a hike, then laying on the couch with you for the ensuing hours; as long as they are with their family, they are content! The breed standard in the U.S. is to dock the tails while in Europe the tails are kept. Please note, all of our puppies will keep their tails unless we have communicated with you before birth. We prefer the tails and the personality it showcases!
